And another similarity without significance: Near my home is a
large city, Baltimore, often pronounced by the natives something
like Bal'mer. The Lords Baltimore who were granted the colony of
Maryland took their title from a town in Ireland, actually not much
more than a village. Ironically, the name in Gaelic means, I
believe, "large town."
