Egad, John was merely talking about methodology, which is the same
no matter time period you're talking. You're using the wrong one
-- the methodology of ignorance -- claiming that since we don't
know anything because we weren't actually there and because
nothing was written in stone, it gives us license to accept any
crazy idea (such as yours).

You keep on claiming that we don't know this and we don't know
that, but we've deduced a lot from the existing historical data
to be able to reconstruct IE. All the historical facts point to
Hattic autochthony. We also can deduce, based on facts, where IE
was located -- Eastern Europe.

The facts, such as prehistoric language contacts, are often to do
with "comparative linguistics" but I know that study doesn't
interest you enough to find out what data exists that diminishes
what you're saying. One of those things is the contact between FU
and IIr, datable to about 2500 BCE or so. If IE came from Anatolia,
why on earth would an IE language get up there only to come back
down again to India? Another is IE's relationship with Uralic,
a language probably situated between the Volga and Uralic
mountains. No amount of pleading would get Uralic in Anatolia any
period of time. You'd also have to drag Altaic and EskimoAleut
back to Anatolia, and then things get really out-of-hand.

There are still arguements against the common consensus about
where IE was spoken but they appear to largely be misguided ones.
And deriving IE back to Anatolia in 7500 BCE is just impossible
because IE isn't differentiated enough to warrant such a deep date.
It's a done deal that IE was even back to 7500 BCE a northerly
language because all the historical data and comparative
linguistic data point to this.

Sorry. You call it a "crystal ball", I call it "logic".

Boy, somebody's got some big issues with me and balls...
