OK Piotr.  I think I might now understand it.  The Greek etymology for Lucifer is derived from morning or evening star which is now labeled the planet Venus (mythological identifications preceeded astronomy).  It was the Hebrew term <satan> that added the concept "adversary, accuser" and it came to be associated with the fallen angel apparently on the basis of Isaiah 14: "[12].

Is this accurate?

Is it? If so, it must be a prejudice. They are the same planet, Venus, whose apparent brightness depends only on factors like phase and angular distance from the Sun (plus weather conditions and the like).
