I don't invent, I ask how the derivations in Greek shuld have been.
Annd you are right when you say that the "a" from amelgo would disappear
in an "e" like in hippe.
Something else gives headaches to me.
The word is not "Hippomolgoi" with "Greek " "oi" , but Hippomulgi.
The Greek derivation ( as someone told to me, but he is maybe wrogn
informed, thus someone else more skilled in Greek will say soemthing
else) , so, the Greek derivation should be "Hippomelgoi" but never a
"Hippemulgi".
So "melgoi" shold be the greek word for "milkers" but not the "mulgi".
The "mulgi/molgi" looks like the Latin one.
