Origin is still unknown and nobody knows who was the first croatian
ban.
First who mentioned the title of ban in Croatia was bizantine
imperator Constantine VII Flavius Porphyrogenitus (905-959) in his
work "De Administrando Imperio".
In cahapter 30. he mentioned that croatian ban rule Lika, Krbava and
Gacka, and in chapter 31. when he writes how ban Pribina in a
dynastic struggle killed croatian king Miroslav in a year 948.
