you are right in your assumption. DEX gives it as follows:
ceva= "ce" + "va"
va= va (1)
a) popular form of "vrea".
b) element which in a stadium of the language served for making composed
words like " ceva, candva, undeva, cumva" ( see Albanian too)

va= va(2) from latin "vadit" in expresion as "mai va"= it will takes
still a lot of time.

Question: which should be the genitive of "ce" then?
