It is rather a nickname in... Greek: "Kaloiannis" ("kalo" =
"handsome, beautiful" + "Ioannes/Ioannis"). This is why, in
Romanian history text books this monarch is called "Ionitsa
cel Frumos" (the same way as a certain French king - around
1300 - is called "Filip cel Frumos" in Romanian).
