Re. suffix -tra (Tra)According to Pa_n.ini (2.3-2,3), it
means,"protecting", as in: go-tra (protecting cows). tra_ (long)
means: a protector, defender R.gveda 1.100.7; 4.24.3

Another synonym of tra is tri, meaning: 'three' (Samskr.tam).

Would the suffix indicate the expansion of the functions of the
ra_jan as a ks.atriya?

Is there a similar evolution of the suffix in other languages?
