It's merely a question of having
good-neighbourly relations with Germany :). To be fair, not all Polish
"autochthonists" are (or were) so out of nationalistic motives. A Slavic
homeland in Poland is a hypothesis that can be discussed "sine ira et studio"
just like any other hypothesis. Golab's book, for example, is free of
propaganda, I believe. The converse, however, is often true: nationalists
tend to believe in Blut und Boden, and therefore in autochthony since time out
of mind.
