The two authors most famous for their work on the tripartite hierarchisation of the IE social structure and religious pantheon are Emile Benveniste (_Le vocabulaire des institutions indo-européennes_, 1969, Paris: Minuit; English translation: _Indo-European Language and Society_, 1973, Coral Gables, FL: University of Miami Press) and Georges Dumézil (_L'idéologie tripartite des Indo-Européens_, 1958, Bruxelles: LATOMUS; _Les dieux souverains des Indo-Européens_, 1977, Paris: Gallimard).
