*gHaiso- occurs only in Celtic and
Germanic with the meaning 'spear, javelin' (Latin gaesum, Gk. gaison ~
gaisos 'javelin' are of course loans from Gaulish). But Gk. kHaion
'shepherd's staff' (< *gHaisom) is a likely cognate.
