OE tungol (Gen. tungles, Nom.pl. tungol, a strong neuter) and OHG (himil-)zungal meant 'star', cf. OE tungol-cræft 'astrology'. I don't know its etymology; perhaps there's some kind of irregular connection with <twinkle>, but I'm only guessing here.
