While some people's knowledge of Indian politics might truely be
suspect, there are others whose knowledge of linguistics is so
basic that they tend to compensate it through the discussion
of other distracting side-topics, like Indian politics.

That's because, as much as anti-Semiticism is irrational, I am
deeply bored by politics. I'm much more interested in linguistics,
particularly Indo-European linguistics to which this list has been
devoted, at least before you came on the scene. I don't recall
this list being devoted to Indian politics or to inquisition-like
finger-pointing of alleged racists.
