Not if the tempting (and more likely)
connection with ON Haddingjar is real. The Scandinavian assimilation -dd-
< *-zd- [-zD-] is regular, so the form *xazding- = <Hasding-> appears
to be authentic. How _that_ is to be etymologised is a different question -- and
a good one.
