There is also a sound similar to the Hindi /x/ [written with 'kh' and
a subscript dot, as noted by Miguel] in old Tamil, often written in
lexicons with three small circles arranged like an equilateral
triangle.

Not enough work has been done in comparing Tamil and Hindi or
Sanskrit to identify which speaker borrowed from what and when.
