For simplicity, plausibility, and explanatory reach, I like Misra's
theses: "Dravidian is comparable to an early phase of New Indo-
Aryan..." (1999, p.18). "...the Dravidian and Indo-Aryan comparison
attempted by Swaminatha Aiyar and complemented by others tempts for a
common Aryo-Dravidian hypothesis...Dravidian may be the first to have
been separated or if South-India was the original home, then the
Aryans separated and went to North. Next the Centum people separated
and left through the Himalayan passes to Caspin or Pamir and then to
Europe etc. The Satem speakers left after that, batch by batch. The
last batch might have been the Iranians." (1992, p. 78). Even if it
doesn't unite people, it sure will keep them busy, wrestling with the
talib-s.
