My opinion is the standard one -- whatever his Hunnish name, he was best known under his Gothic byname "Daddy" (perhaps resembling or translating the original, but that's hardly necessary).

Maenchen-Helfen has a large list of Hunnic names in his work some of which he identifies as Iranic. Could we go even further southeastward (from a Central European perspective)?****
