There are some equivalents and diminutives in Catalan for Maria. The one you put in there, "Mari" is just a diminutive, so maybe it's not too suitable. About equivalents used as different names, but being just different forms of "Maria" /m@'ri@/, right now I can tell at least one: "Mireia" /mi'rEj@/, which is very popular within our women.
 
About this issue: I was told hebrew (and Catalan or Spanish)  "Miriam" (well, in Catalan it'd be "Míriam") was in fact an equivalent or another form of what is "Maria" i Catalan. What about that? If it is, add it to your Catalan list, as it is a really really popular female name here.
