I realize that *x- in anlaut is problematic by itself (<*sk-?
expressive? onomatopoeia?), but still what about *xromU 'lame,gammy'
and (if not of merely onomatopoeic origin) *xro,stU 'crunch;sticks,
falen deadwood etc', *xre,stjI 'cartilage;beetle etc'.
