Absolutely. A Slavic hypocorism would be based on a Slavic reflex of
*ek^wos, not on "something similar" to the PIE form. As Miguel
pointed out, the hypothetical Slavic development of *ek^wo- would
have to be *(j)esv- or *osv-. One could imagine **os', **os'ka or the
like as a diminutive abbreviation (even so, the unattestation of the
full form would be an embarrassment), but this doesn't account for
<kos'-> with it's <k->.
