Sorry, 4000 BP was intended. "BC" is a typo (not a Freudian slip :)).
The precision of my "timeline" is soo rough that BP may be taken as
signifying "before 2001" or "years ago" (give or take half a century)
rather than "before AD 1950". The latter convention is only
obligatory when quoting uncalibrated radiocarbon dates.
