The first official name of this 'St. Peter's city' was indeed
something of Dutch flavour: it was {Piterburx} in the earliest
Russian documents. Peter the Great was nearly fluent in both Dutch
and German, but consistently prefered Dutch by some reasons
(recollections of youth?).
