Chernych's Russian et. dict. mentions a possible connection with
*g^hai-(d)- (Gmc. goat < *gait-, Lat. haedus, as "jumping animal").
The Slavic form goes back to *g^(h)a:j-/*g^(h)o:j-, as does Lith.
zui~-kis < zo:j- (despite unexpected z- for z^-).
