I can't find my Latin dictionary but think "saevus" means "mad,
angry"--Virgil has "saevae memoram Iunonis ob iram" (Fitzgerald translates
"baleful Juno in her sleepless rage." I doubt very much if this has anything
to do with "sea."
To me Thor seems more like Hagar the Horrible than like Mike Tyson.
I thought this was supposed to be a list about linguistics, not about
archaeology or history.
