I'll try to find out if there is documented continuity of longhouse traditions anywhere (N Germany and Scandinavia?).

I don't know if I'm jumping the gun here but has anyone brought up the Danish and British Long Barrow tradition in this regard yet? Lots of archaeologists have pointed out the continuity from LBK longhouse to these [likewise stretched trapezoid] sites of the mortuary domain. I read once that some of the longer Bylany houses were speculated as involving some kind of non domestic ritual 'clubhouse' function such as can readily find many anthropological analogues, and so the barrows might be an echo of this tradition.
