Slavic *ognI might be even not an exception to Winter's law if
etymologized as < *ngni- (eg., 1. *n- < *gn-, the whole word being
reduplication of *gen- 'bend' or 2. *n- being a negation, and *gn-
'rot, decay' as if from < 'preventing decay').
