You're right. I'm conscious of the difficulties but
haven't reflected enough on to find how to solve them.
However, the fact is that the problems I have for
talking about Spanish or Catalan are just with a
handful of phonems (well, the problems would increase
if I'd try of talking about Spanish allophones of "s",
for example). Maybe a simplified phonetic notation for
every language (a simplified RFE for Spanish and
Catalan, for instance)? Don't know.
