Next time you're in a drawing-room discussing Anouilh, you can not only pronounce his name comme il faut, but also remark that the name is Occitan (oc, Oc-ci-tan, or Gascon to be more precise). It apparently means "slowworm" locally (= "standard" Occitan anaduelh), though I'd have to do some more checking to be sure.
