But why not *macher?
Anyway, re: <triumphus>: Ten years ago, browsing around for fun
without taking notes, I came across a book, the name of which I
forgot, on the general subject of things Etruscan, in which were
described the Roman Trojan games. I remember two words, the verb <per-
amp-truare>, supposedly describing a kind of dance (?) having to do
with the games, and the word <triumpe!> shouted by the crowds > "
(Roman) triumph" etc. And of course the both went straight into my
collection of tr- words. Now I'm asking myself: Tyrrhenian? Etruscan?
Troy? Anybody has any use for these miserable scraps of information?
