I know. Even in Britain some 80% of informants questioned by J.C. Wells preferred [-f-] in <nephew>, and that was more than a decade ago. Almost a century ago, Otto Jespersen wrote: "... and now some begin to say ['nefju] instead of the legitimate ['nevju]."
