This term is German by origin (as well as ablaut and umlaut you
mentioned).

Here are three more -lauts for your collection (all indicating
special phonetic conditions):

anlaut 'in the beginning of the word'
inlaut 'in the middle of the word'
auslaut 'in the end of the word'.
