Yes, I remove the "of course" ! It would be nice to derive it from verb
endings, if that were possible. There may be two bits of evidence
connected with your comments:
(a) The 1st and 3d persons picked up a passive -r, but neither 2nd person
does. The 2nd singular appears to have been -so, which developed to -ro
> -re, and then had the 2 sing marker -s added, giving the final
forms -re/-ris. So the -r pattern appears everywhere outside the 2
plural, but only by chance! Does this move us forward or backward?
(b) Umbrian shows kateramu etc., so it looks as if the form in -mini has
parallels in Sabellian. Is that good news or bad news?

I have seen this also in Meiser (who may be relying on Szemerenyi). It does
seem a desparate attempt to relate -mini to a recognisable IE verb ending.
