referring to PIE, that's usually shorthand for "mediopassive".

This is something I picked up some time ago. I see DQA in EIEC has the
same view as you, tho he says of the mediopassive: "It could also be
used, though probably rarely, as a true passive", p. 466. I stand
corrected.
