Another character that tried to take his dad's place was Canaanite
Helel, also associated with the morning star. He was associated with
Lucifer( I believe Helel is used in the place of Lucifer in some
versions of the bible). Helel was also said to be the son of the dawn
god.
The association with the over-ambitious son and the morning star
might have something to do with Venus being visible even after the
sun has risen, like it is trying to do the sun's job.
