First of all, clan is Irish, not "Celtic" and secondly, it is a loan from
Latin planta "shoot for propagation" (at the time when Irish borrowed Latin
planta, they converted the foreign -p- sound into a -qu- which became Old
Irish -c-).

This is the danger of randomly looking for cognates between different
languages based on words which look similar - if you do not know the history
of these languages, you are doomed to failure.
