I don't think I understand that objection. Is it something like
-HV- ? But in that case if I ware right, and the letters that
now stand for vowels then indicated laryngeals, then there would
never have been a time when both laryngeal and vowel were written,
so there would never have been a time when -HV- were written with
two "vowel signs".
