Dear Friends,

I am glad to introduce to you the brand new project launched by The
Indo-European Database:

Etymological Dictionary of Indoeuropean Roots (E-DIR)

This project is the first attempt to create an online and free-for-
all etymological dictionary of Indo-European languages. E-DIR will be
an ultimate resource of knowledge about Indo-European lexicon and its
origins. The Project is based on the previous etymological
dictionaries of Indo-European dictionaries (J.Pokorny, 1959) as well
as on various sources of linguistic studies and the latest research
in etymology.

Since the task to cover an enormous amount of information is quite
complicated, the Dictionary will be issued in parts. Today, the first
part is ready at
http://www.indoeuropean.net The Dictionary is being prepared by a
collective of authors - Members of The Indo-European Database.

We welcome any corrections, comments and - the most important thing -
your contributions to E-DIR. We fully recognize that the critical
approach will only help to make the Dictionary a reliable, solid and
ultimate source of information.

Sincerely,

Cyril Babaev
