Oops, sorry, Joao, I thought you meant the m of mrog-. On re-reading your posting I realised you meant the m of Cymry. Here indeed we have the simplification *-mb- > *-m- in preconsonantal position. Nasal + voiced stop sequences are generally reduced to -N(N)- via nasal assimilation in Welsh, cf. *wind-o- > gwyn 'white' or Latin candela > cannwyll.
