The problem is to know: Hermes < hermeias or hermeias < Hermes?

Herme:s has the form Hermaas (Mycenic e-ma-a). Greek Names with -a(:)s are
hardly related to PIE roots, unless from some non-Greek way.
I suspect a relation with Hittie Irmash/Armash, moon-god.
Myc. e-ma-a may sugest an older *Sermasas or *Yermasas, didnt it?
