I think the -sk-/-zg- alternation (and the -sk-/-ks- metathesis) are just those little disorderly things that often happen to animal names, which tend to be morphologically unmotivated and dialectally variable.
 
As I said in a previous e-mail I think Greek trokhos "badger" can be a metathesis of *tokhros < *toks-ros
 
Isn't it simpler to derive it from trekho: 'move quickly'?
