Theogonia patterns

One of the main "mysteries" I'm concerned is to discover the origin of the patterns showed in Hesiodos's Theogony. Maybe you can help me.
1) Why there are three "clans": Night (Nyx) , Sea (Pontos) and Sky (Ouranos)???
2) There was a Titanomachy, but against what Titans? Okeanos kin was the Okeanides, they didnt fight. Hyperion kin is Sun and Moon, idem. Koios kin were Leto and Asteria, allies of Zeus. The only Titan that seemed to fight Zeus was Iapetos, because two of his sons was punished: Atlas e Menoitios. Prometheus was ally of Zeus, but later was punished by stealing the fire.
3) What's the difference between Okeanos, Pontos and Nereus.
4) Why Titans married their sisters, but Kreios and Iapetos married other sort of goddesses?
5) Why Ares was the only son of Zeus and Hera but had no importance?
6) What's the origin of six children of Kronos and Rhea? And their half-brother Kheiron, how is fitted in this scheme?
