Not very much. It's a possibility, not a conclusively demonstrated
connection, and the evidence is is circumstantial. There are a few other
examples of *pk- > *k- following vowel reduction in *pek-, and *-o:n often
makes nouns from nouns (as in *dHgH@...:n < *dHgHo:m, or *xjuwo:n 'young
man'). If you've got a better proposal, go ahead with the details.
